I would like to congratulate the SSS Chaser for winning the April Photo Competition. The photo was submitted by one of their old crew members, and a past boatswain, Chip Zoller.
Here is what Chip had to say:
“We are hammering in stakes and putting up river markers along the length of the Napa River at all of the bends and banks so that no ships would run aground for Napa Mini. It was the first year in over a decade that not a single ship ran aground. We were battling an intense flood tide, shallow waters, hazards to navigation (rocks, logs, pilings, etc), stiff winds, and sporadic rain squalls. “
To give you some context if you have never been up the Napa River, at high tide there can be up to several feet of water covering those rocks Chip is standing on.
This picture is a great example of Sea Scouts working in all conditions to ensure that others have a safe boating experience.
